Yesterday was the Torbay Motor Club’s (TMC) 2011 Torbay Classic Car Trial event. 90 motorcycles and car’s took part which fortunately didn’t require the services of the Devon Air Ambulance this year ( See my following blogpost on the 2010 event.) – although at one stage we thought it might be needed but more of that later.

Gareth Roulston and 4 friends are cycling the Great British End-to-End, or as it’s also known, LEJOG (Lands End to John O’Groats) in April 2010. You may have heard about this particular challenge when David Walliams, Davina and Co completed the challenge for Sport Relief last year, although they did it as a relay rather than cycling the complete journey. Gareth and his team will all be cycling every metre of the 1000 Miles over 10 days and raising funds for Cancer Research UK and the Scleroderma Society in the process. So why am I telling you this?
Just outside North Bovey on Dartmoor in Devon, lies the manor originally built for WH Smith called Bovey Castle – formerly The Manor House Hotel. A fabulous location, beautiful grounds and lovely staff made our time there fantastically relaxing. We’ll be back.
A friend of mine has competed in Classic Car trials for a number of years. I have frequently been his navigator as we have enjoyed days out across the South West and beyond in his Schmitar SS1 trying to battle our way through the mud and water in our quest towards the finish line.
I am very lucky to live in a fabulous part of The World, surrounded by fantastic moorland and coast. Beautiful.
The South Hams of Devon is a fabulouse area with stunning coastline. I live in the area and sometimes I can be guilty of taking it for granted, however taking the time to look around me with the camera, and soaking up the surroundings, helps me really appreciate how lucky I am to live in such a scenic county that thousands of people each year come to for their holidays.
